Hi, I can see that the dependent properties work only if the controlling property is empty… Is there any workaround for this? It is a very weird and useless setup if the dependent property will not be visible if the controlling property already has a value.

What exactly in the CRM are you referring to? Can you please specify if this on an index page, in a record sidebar etc?
Generally, what you’re describing is default behavior. If you’re referring to the left record sidebar, for example, it’s easiest to simply add the dependent property also to the view - or to create a conditional section that displays when it is known.

It is in a record sidebar. I set up dependent properties (I created new properties) that I want to see if the controlling property (an existing multiple checkbox property in our crm with data) is populated to a specific value.
The hubspot support person told me that the depended proprties works only if the controlling property is empty and there is no workaround for that which I find very weird.
@Xiawanbai there are workarounds, please see my previous reply: Customize records
- Add the dependent property to show generally
- Add two versions of whichever section the property is a part of - one to show conditionally if it’s known (with it), one to to show conditionally if it’s unknown (without it)
@Xiawanbai yes, you would create two cards:
- One version that shows the property, conditionally when it is known
- One version that doesn’t show the property, when it is unknown

I can see that you were able to see the dependent property even if the value in the controlling property was set up so that it is possible to see it.
If you are not able to help me with that, is there anyone in the team to can see if there is a bug in our system since we cannot see the dependent property when the controlling is set up?

You can create a workflow that will empty the value of the controlling property, or send a notification to update the value of the dependent property. By default, it can’t be done, as you are seeing currently.

That does sound like a tricky setup sometimes using a conditional formula can help make dependent properties visible regardless. While figuring this out, I like to take a short break and check moe’s menu with prices for some quick meal ideas.
