Having conditional logic for properties within a deal stage’s existing conditional logic would be a great upgrade to HubSpot. That sounds a bit strange when explained like that, but this is our example:
- When we move a deal to lost, a custom HubSpot user property is required to be filled in so we know who hosted an in-person meeting with the deal (this property is separate from the default ‘deal owner’ property, by the way).
- We have a ‘fake’ HubSpot user created in our account called ‘no meeting’, which is to be selected when a deal moves to lost but does not have an in-person meeting. This may seem odd, but ‘no owner’ cannot be a response when the property is a required one, which is why I had to create a fake user to get round this.
- When this ‘no meeting’ user is selected, (and it’s only for this user) we want a further property to show why there was no meeting - e.g. cancelled, never booked or denied (when a meeting is booked but entry on the day is bizarely refused). For our business it’s quite important to differentiate between meetings that weren’t booked and didn’t happen, as well as what was booked but was then cancelled or denied.
The above use may seem a little bit odd, but in our business it’s quite common for meetings to be booked and then cancelled. We have to know if someone carried out a meeting or not, and if not then why not. So the idea posted would help us setup our deal stage logic as required.
