Deal Type vs Pipeline

Hi all,

I am working on creating deal “types”, specifically new business, upsell and renewal. I was thinking about using the “deal type” property for that, but realised that I am not able to customise the layout or the stages for the different types.

I then thought about using the pipelines for the types, but in my company I have multiple teams selling different products and they will also benefit from different stages.

Am I right to conclude that I will have to choose - either have pipelines for teams, which will give them custom stages and have the deal type as a field, which will mean all types will have the same stages, OR - have the deal types as pipelines and have all teams share the same stages?

And on that topic - there’s really no way to customise the layout of deals based on type/pipeline??

Hi @TShemesh8 ,

I don’t think you “have to choose.” With a Professional Subscription you have up to 15 Deal Pipelines to work with, and with Enterprise up to 100, so it’s all a question of how many pipelines you NEED and what subscription level you have.

Team 1 New Business

Team 1 Upsell

Team 1 Renewal

Team 2 New Business

Team 2 Upsell

Team 2 Renewal

Using this methodology, you would be able to set it up this way for five distinct teams on a Professional level subscription.
