I can certainly understand your frustration with trying to get your sorting in the columns to stick, I have always preferred board view and was so relieved when HubSpot added the Sort function!
I’m not sure what your criteria are when you drag them to a new order, but if you can create a property associated with this method/process, you could change the sort function to follow that property.
