# Deal amount

How do I have the Deal Amount automatically filled out or referencing another field. This Amount is used in many of the built-in CRM features, like pipeline value so that’s why I want to use this property. Since this is a default Hubspot property on a default Deal pane, I can’t replace this property or change the field type to be computed. I also tried adding a “Property Logic” to tie this field to a field where the desired value is computed, but this property is under the “Unsupported” section and can’t be selected.

Do you mean that you want to have Deal Amount be updated by another field? (So “Amount X” populates “Deal Amount” field?)

Simple workflow example --\> i’ve used the default Annual Recurring Revenue to update the Amount field based on a deal stage trigger - of course you could change the trigger to whatever suits you, including the vital “When X is KNOWN” which means it will update every time X is updated.
