# Deactive/Remove User

I need 2 students REMOVED from my current roster. How do I remove them???

They were on my roster 3 semesters ago; I deactivated them. But, now I need to enroll them (again) into my spring course. However, when I try to deactivate them or remove them, I get an error that says “this email is already in use”.

So, again, how do I remove 2 students, so I can reactivate them?

Hey @DrRichardson a deactivated user is still technically in use as it’s not fully removed, once they’re deactivated you just need to take the [steps to remove them from your portal](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/user-management/deactivate-hubspot-users) to have them fully removed.
