Data quality formatting preferences for Company Location Info - State/Region Spelling

There is a setting under Contacts to have data populate as either full text or abbreviation for their location data, for example FL versus Florida. This setting does not exist for Companies.

We need to be able to segment and report on this at the Company level to see, but HubSpot populates this field sometimes with FL and sometimes with Florida. This makes the field usesless and would require 50 separate workflows to fix this automatically just for the US data.

Hi @asmith11,

As far as I know, the only way to do this is to either custom code something through the API, or through Ops Hub. Or Excel. The one issue there though is that standardization can be a difficult thing to hard-code, especially if there are a lot of variations for each answer. For example, for job titles, CEO vs. C.EO. vs. Chief Executive Officer vs. CEO/Founder vs. CEO & Founder vs. Chief Executive Officer and Founder, etc. etc. Hard coding a solution that can account for every nuance nearly impossible, and that’s just one job title for one field. Across your whole database it’s definitely not a viable solution IMO.

I think Insycle would be a solution here. Full disclosure - I work for Insycle, but they seem like a good fit for what you need.

Insycle let’s you standardize any field and actually offers multiple modules for this. One of the modules, Cleanse Data, let’s you select data by buckets (screenshot). So if you have half your customers with the state “New York” and half with “NY,” you could select the “New York,” bucket and if you want the abbreviation, update that bucket to be “NY.”

The other module, Transform Data, lets you map values to standardize (screenshot) or use pre-built functions (screenshot) for some formatting/standardization updates like formatting phone numbers a handful of different ways, standardizing state abbreviations, fixing capitalization issues, etc.

Here’s the support document for formatting. In the FAQ section at the bottom, you can see all of the pre-built functions for formatting text, phone numbers, and addresses. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply! I’m hoping HubSpot just fixes this to make the setting match the contact level options of choosing either FL or Florida.
