I’m managing a HubSpot portal with a growing number of custom properties and want to understand both the limits and any potential impact on performance.
- What are the exact limits on the number of custom properties we can create per object (contacts, companies, deals, etc.) in different HubSpot plans?
- Does having a large number of custom properties affect system performance in any noticeable way - such as slowing down reporting, workflows, or general CRM functionality?
- Are there any best practices for managing a high volume of custom properties efficiently?
Would love to hear from anyone who has encountered this or has insights from HubSpot support!
Hi @DDias28,
You can find the property limits here: https://legal.hubspot.com/hubspot-product-and-services-catalog
Generally, yes, a large number of properties can technically slow down a property but typically this slow-down is caused not by properties but by “heavier” features such as workflows, scoring, active lists, large numbers of reports. In other words, you’ll have other problems before you’ll notice slow-downs due to your property count.
The main best practice for properties is to limit their creation and editing to a select number of users: Manage user permissions
If you already have a large number of properties, you can export them for easy auditing: Organize, delete, and export properties – this helps with finding duplicates, obsolete properties etc.
Best regards
