# Custom Objects - Business Units

Is it possible to create custom objects that are associated to specific Business units and not account wide?

You can associate custom contact properties with a business unit. However, keep in mind that this custom contact property will be available for all contacts, not just the contacts associated with the business unit. To manage this, you can also [create a conditional section on your record sidebar](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/customize-record-sidebars#edit-the-sections-in-the-record-sidebar-professional-and-enterprise-only) so the properties will only appear if there is a set value for the business unit property.

[@Ryan\_Sessel](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/531994) Did you get an answer on this? We are looking at using Business Units and currently use Hubspot Custom Objects to sync to our Salesforge Org custom objects. I can see a case where we would need custom objects to be business unit specific.

@DianaGomez Your response covers properties on a standard object but not an entire Custom Object. Do you know if a custom object can be business unit specific?

At the moment, HubSpot’s custom objects are not directly associated with specific business units within a portal. Custom objects are created at the portal level and are accessible to all business units within that portal.

For new feature suggestions, please consider posting on our [Ideas Forum.](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/idb-p/HubSpot_Ideas) If you find a similar idea, give it an upvote and share your unique use case in the comments.
