# custom object data missing in sandbox

I created a sandox assuming that it would essentially be a mirror of production, however, it looks like the existing data for custom objects was not copied into the sandbox. Is this a known limitation of sandboxes - i.e. that they don’t include custom object data? I see the custom object defintions are present in the sandbox, just none of the data. I couldn’t find anything in the documentation that states such a limitation, but any clarification that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, @projectcabana 👋 You are not missing an option. The in-app workflow and the documentation make reference to this limitation, _and_ I agree it could be more explicitly called out.  
Here’s what I am referring to:

“Standard and custom object properties, property groups, and dependencies, _but not object records_.”  
“5,000 most recently updated contacts and their associated deals, companies, and tickets” (does not include custom object records)
