I am new to Hubspot and trying to test importing leads.

I created custom lifecyle stages and I put those stages in my import file but it is not uploading the contact with those stages in Hubspot.

Am I missing something?

Hi @LBorcziak,

Could you share a screenshot of the import file and a screenshot of the contact overview, ideally showing the _Lifecycle stage_ column?

Here are a few things that could’ve gone wrong:

- There might have been an issue with the import itself. Navigate to _Contacts_ \> _Contacts_ \> _Import_ \> scroll down and find your import and see if there were any errors. If yes, hover over the import, click _More_ and download the error file.
- Contacts cannot go back in lifecycle stages. Let’s assume that you created custom stages and the order is “Subscriber”, “Custom LCS 1”, “Custom LCS 2”, “MQL”, “Opportunity”, “Customer”. If the contacts in your system are mostly MQLs, and import with their _Lifecycle stage_ set to “Custom LCS 2” wouldn’t have any effect – because HubSpot prevents contacts from going back in lifecycle stage.

Is this an issue for all of your contacts? Are there some which were successfully updated?

Hope this helps!
