Custom Company Research in Agent Hub and Prospecting Agent Research
Curious — if we run a custom company research agent in Agent Hub, isn’t it supposed to write the research to the CRM company record when opening the account from the Target Account module or company record? It seems the research only gets written when we start it directly from Prospecting Agent Research (or the Target Account module).
Great question! It sounds like this might be the case as I’m not finding anything that states it should update the company automatically in that scenario. In the meantime here are some resources that may point you in the right direction:
Thanks for looping @stassey. @HubSpotWizard yes, I’ve seen exactly this, and it’s not a bug, it’s two different things wearing the same name.
The research you see on the Target Accounts “Research Agent” tab and on the Prospecting research card on the company record is the native prospecting research. HubSpot owns that flow end to end, which is why it lands on the record automatically.
A custom company research agent you build in Agent Hub is a separate thing. It doesn’t plug into that Research tab, and it doesn’t write anywhere unless you tell it to. By default its output lives in the agent’s own conversation, and that’s it. Opening the company record afterwards won’t pull it in, because nothing ever asked it to.
Two ways I’ve handled it for clients:
Give the custom agent an action. When you build it, add an action that updates a company property (i usually create a multi-line text property like “AI Research Summary”) or logs a note on the record. Then the output actually persists where reps look.
Or, if what you really want is just better prompts for the native research, don’t build a custom agent at all. Tweak the prospecting agent’s setup in Breeze Studio instead and let it keep writing to the tab it already writes to.
Nine times out of ten the second option is what people actually needed. Building a custom agent because the native one felt slightly generic is a common detour.
Just to add a bit to @Alex_Boissonneault’s comment, you can also use a “Company Research Agent” template by HubSpot (look for it under the “Start with a template” section in Agent Hub) and that one will provide results on the Overview tab.
