CTA "Open link in new tab" opens a popup, not a tab, which doesn't play nicely with Safari

We have a PDF brochure that we want to embed as a CTA to track clicks. When we use a HubSpot CTA, the setting to Open the link in a new tab does not do that; it opens up a popup. If someone’s using Safari, they may not see that the popup is blocked by default.

The HubSpot CTA button is below the map: https://www.whittierhealth.com/about-whittier-health-network/refer-a-patient/

Here’s what the Divi button module does (opens up in an actual new tab): https://www.whittierhealth.com/about-whittier-health-network/refertest/

Is there any way to keep people on the page and open it in a new tab rather than a popup? I know it seems like semantics, but it’s a real oversight by the HubSpot team--tab vs. popup--, and I’m not sure if anybody noticed it before or resolved this issue as I’m looking through these resources. It’s being escalated with their support team.

Hey @x10haley, thank you for reaching out.

Since you’ve already escalated this issue with the HubSpot support team, it’s worth continuing to follow up with them for a more permanent fix. They might be able to offer a more integrated solution or provide an update on whether this behavior can be adjusted in future releases.

Kindly,

Pam

Morning Pam,

No, the team did not have a fix. I have to submit it for people to vote on… This gives me an unclear/unrealistic timeline now, as it should have been spotted in the past by someone testing on Safari and fixed by now. I can’t imagine how many people are missing opportunities.
