Creating reports for commision only sales reps

Hi all,

I am trying to build a report to see when a commision only sales rep made a deal, to what % the deal was made (Client Type property).

At the moment, the sales reps are not Hubspot users, so they are an associated contact on the deal with the primary contact (our Client).

The sales reps do not have a Client Type associated with them, but the primary contacts on the deals do. This is important information to us as this decides how much commision we pay the sales reps.

So if I build a report on Payment Received date per month, and break that up on Client Type, I can see all deals paid for per client type. If I then want to filter it to only see deals by a certain sales rep, I loose the Client Type value, because the sales rep is not set up that way. But the deals they has done are.

I can I make sure I only see the deals associated with the certain sales rep, but still see the value of the Client Type?

Is there such a way?

Hey @EPitches are the reps associated as a contact on the deal? If so they will be treated the same way as the customer contact record, both will be seen as a regular contact and HubSpot is designed to see contacts associated with the deal as employees of that business, associating reps to them as contacts will get very messy down the line, the only real solution to this is custom objects, but this requires sales enterprise.

What you’re asking here is to have a report that reports on a deal, then also report on two contacts associated with the deal in two different ways. If you display the contact property it’s going to display it for both contacts as they’re basically the same thing when it comes to reports.

Without custom objects, the best way to do this would be to have a “client type” as a deal property, so you can just report on it as a deal without having to worry about associated contacts.

Thanks! That’s really helpful to know
