Creating a Meaningful Marketing Dashboard

Hey All,

I’m struggling to integrate advertising cost data to actual lead generated. I’m finding that even though my contact database has the proper UTMs tagged by source and medium, the Ad and Campaign reports are NOT showing this data.

All I really need is an ad cost report against the leads generated. It feels like the CRM has all this data in various different views and so far I can’t seem to find a way to bring it all together in one view.

Is this even possible with Hubspot on the professional plan? We were pitched that it was but from what I’m seeing, it looks like enterprise has been given the only permissions. Which honestly, is pretty stupid given it’s our data.

I’m also seeing all kinds of data descrpencies as well. Such as “organic social” being credited for leads but are clearly “paid” in the UTM source.

Wondering if I’m wasting my time trying to get this to work with Hubspot?

Hi @tammymiles,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

There are a few different tools you can use in HubSpot to measure cost per contact:

1) Directly from your Ad Dashboard: Click into any campaign and then click “Add Metrics” and select Cost per Contact.

2) You can create an attribution report. This knowledge base article and this HubSpot Academy Course on Custom Reports go into further detail on building attribution reports.
3) You can find a Cost Per Contact report in your reporting library. Go to “Reports” > click on “Create Report” and then select “Ads” as your data source. You’ll be able to find reports related to costs per contact and costs per campaign. These reports can be added to a reporting dashboard.

I also wanted to share a few articles on how leads are classified in HubSpot depending on their source:

1) Understand HubSpot’s traffic sources in the traffic analytics tool

2) Understand Original and Latest source properties

3) [Reporting tips] Update and filter contacts using source properties

If the data discrepancies you’re seeing do not match with the UTM sources as described in the knowledge base article, I would recommend connecting with HubSpot Technical Support, as Support is included in your subscription and they will be able to look at your specific examples.

Your Customer Success Manager can also assist you with best practices and make sure you’re getting the most of out of your subscription and tools.

Hope this helps!

Best,

Kristen

Thank you for all the great resources here!

The challenge I am facing with the standard reports under marketing is they are full of test leads the team periodically checks and according to Hubspot support there is no way to scrub them out of those reports?

We test everything before it goes live so sometimes that’s a lot of tests and it’s messing with our metrics as none of those contacts showing up in my ad or campaign reports actually went through an ad.

Do we have a customer success manager? I’ve never been told of one. We’ve only been going through chat.

I’ll dive into your resources. Thanks again!

Hi @tammymiles,

You’re very welcome!

You can reach out to the HubSpot Technical Support team to get your Customer Success Manager’s details.

I hope these resources help :slightly_smiling_face:
