# Creating a contact property

I am rewriting an existing solution, that creates or updates contact properties of type enumeration, and sets that property for the relevant contacts.

I can update an existing property by sending:  
PATCH [https://api.hubapi.com/crm/v3/properties/Contact/dk\_test\_2?hapikey=](https://api.hubapi.com/crm/v3/properties/Contact/dk_test_2?hapikey=)  
body:  
{“type”: “enumeration”,“fieldType”: “checkbox”,“groupName”: “dk\_product\_access”,“options”: [{“label”: “Option 01 Test”,“value”: “option\_01\_test”},{“label”: “Option 02 test”,“value”: “Option\_02\_test”},{“label”: “Option 03 test”,“value”: “Option\_03\_test”}]}

But how do i create a new one? if the property doen’t exists, i get

status 404  
{  
“status”: “error”,  
“message”: “Couldn’t find a Property with the given name ‘dk\_test\_2’”,  
“correlationId”: “3323dde0-8d1f-4688-8ba8-05d47121782f”,  
“propertiesErrorCode”: “PROPERTY\_NOT\_FOUND”  
}

I am not 100% clear on the problem so apologies if this answer is obvious, but you would create the property with the POST method.

Thanks, it were kind of obvious, and i already tried without luck, but after your answer, i played arould a little with the address and body, and made it work.
