Create a workflow to send a welcome email to an active list of new contacts

Hi,

I am relatively new to HubSpot and am looking to set up a workflow based on the following scenario:

1. My team will receive business cards of new contacts at an expo

2. They will enter the new contacts into HubSpot manually (assigning them to an active list)

3. They want a welcome email to be automatically triggered to these new contacts

Can anyone tell me how I should set the filters up correctly to achieve this?

Hi @ninsil,

Happy to help!

  • Create a contact based workflow: Create workflows
  • Enroll contacts based on 'When Filter criteria is met" > “List membership” > find your list
  • Click the + to add an action and find “Send email”, add an automated email: Send automated emails in workflows

If you’re billed by marketing contacts, you might also want to add an action before that email send, “Set contact as marketing”.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!

Ok thank you, very helpful.

One question - when creating the list (which will be added to manually as contacts are made) - do I set it up as an active or static list? Which filters do I activate? We will be collecting First Name, Last Name, Company, Email address details.

@ninsil if you want to add contacts manually to this list you would create a static one: Add records to or remove records from a segment

When you first create it, simply save it without any filters. You can then follow the steps from the link to add to it.

Ok I may have run into a problem. I have set up an automated email and tried to add it to my workflow. Is it correct that you need a Marketing Hub Professional account to send workflow emails? We have Marketing Hub Starter and Sales Hub Professional.

@ninsil correct, you cannot send automated emails in Sales Hub Professional, this required Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise.
