Create a task for a contact using contact ID or HS link

Hello.

Situation:

we have two types of contacts, buyers (BUY) and manufacturers (MAN).

Deals are published under the buyer’s name, and only the buyers is attached to the deal (due to the fact that HS logic cannot differentiate the associated contacts types).

Once the deal is won, we record the MAN’s email / contact ID in dedicated fields. After a few days, we have a task to follow-up with the BUY and with the MAN, done by 2 different teams.

Problem:

The BUY task is easy, since it has the contact association. This is not possible for the MAN.

Question:

Is there a way to create a task and associate it to the MAN, using his/her contact ID or email?

Thank you!

Hi @FHugi,

Do I understand correctly that you’d like to create a task for a contact that is not associated with the deal? Even if you have the contact ID and email stored in deal properties (that’s how I understood your post), this will not be possible automatically unfortunately. HubSpot cannot currently not lookup a contact based on the value of another record’s field.

You would have to approach this from a different angle and clearly categorize contacts into BUY and MAN via a custom property. Both contacts would then have to be associated with the deal. Then it would be possible to conceptualize a workflow that creates these tasks correctly.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!
