Could someone please clarify the email syncing situation to me please?

I like hubspot, I like how it looks, etc.

What I’m noticing happening is that if I email the client, and they reply, it all gets logged and added to their contact. Perfect.

However, if they decide to write some ad-hoc email on an unrelated subject. Hubspot won’t sync this even though it came from the same email address as a known contact and I need to use the forward address myself to get it syncd to their contact?

Am I doing something wrong, or is it really this backward?

Hi @krs360,

I just answered on another thread of yours. In your words, this would be really backward, yes.

HubSpot does not automatically logs incoming emails, only replies to tracked emails sent from HubSpot are. See here: Understand reply-only email logging rules

In other words: HubSpot does not capture net new incoming emails. You always have to send a tracked email (using the HubSpot sales extension in Chrome or Outlook, or from the HubSpot UI directly) first.

I understand that this might be unintuitive but that’s simply how HubSpot chose to design this feature. (Don’t shoot the messenger.)

Best regards!

The e-mails not syncing all e-mails to the contacts is a HUGE issue with Hubspot. Even basic CRMs like Pipedrive accomplish this. This is basic stuff that needs to be addressed ASAP
