# Contact Record Customization - left side bar

Hello all,

I want to update the default view of the left side bar for all of my contacts.

I have attempted to do that my going to Settings \> Contacts \> Record Customization \> Customize Left Sidebar. [https://app.hubspot.com/record-settings/44908982/customize?location=LEFT\_SIDEBAR&editedType=0-1&type=0-1&view=0&action=edit](https://app.hubspot.com/record-settings/44908982/customize?location=LEFT_SIDEBAR&editedType=0-1&type=0-1&view=0&action=edit)  
I saved my changes. Then I checked my contacts and the left side bar still isnt updated. I tried creating a new contact too, and the left side bar still isnt updated to my saved preferences.

Hi @MHuggins0,

After changing your default record, you may have to default your left side bar back to defaults.

You should see that by clicking “View All Properties” on a contact record.

If that doesn’t work, double-check that you saved your customization and if you did, try clearing your cache.

How do we do this with the new user interface?

Josh’s solution above is not an option, that I can see, after turning on the new user interface beta:
