Contact list is pulling from my personal Gmail account

Hello,

My contacts list is suddenly pulling from my personal Gmail account, which isn’t connected to Hubspot. As a result, hundreds of personal contacts, which don’t belong to my business, have appeared in my Contacts list. Why is it doing this? How do I stop it? I don’t want to have to delete them all manually - it would take me days. It’s many months - maybe even as long as a year - since I opened Hubspot on my browser to look at the contact list. It definitely didn’t used to do this in the years I’ve been using it.

What’s going on, anyone, please?

Cheers

Pam

Hi @DetailDevil,

Have you maybe connected your email address as a conversations inbox? Connect channels to the conversations inbox

This would explain the contacts generated. I know you said that you didn’t connect your personal address but it’s very unlikely that this happened without any prior authentication.

If not, could you check under Settings > Integrations > Connected apps whether anything is listed there that might be causing this?

Best regards

Thanks for your prompt reply. The personal Gmail address isn’t connected; I open it in a separate tab sometimes, but it’s definitely not connected. I haven’t knowingly connected anything as a conversations inbox - I simply use the Gmail extension, and have been doing for years, without changing any settings. It’s never done this before. I’ve checked the preferences, and only my business account is connected. I have no connected apps.

Regardless of how this has happened, is there a way of stopping Hubspot from pulling in these contacts, or has the damage already been done? And how do I stop it from doing it again? Thanks!

@DetailDevil can you check your Google integrations? Manage links between your Google Account & apps from other developers - Google Account Help

There should be something there for HubSpot to pull in these emails.

Also, can you look up what the original source value for these contacts is? Understand Original and Latest traffic source properties

Could you also confirm that you’re not accessing your HubSpot account with that email address?

Regarding the contacts that have already been created, you would have to bulk delete these: Delete CRM records

Thanks again for your help. Only my business address is linked to Hubspot. I don’t have time to look at all the information you’ve linked to, but thanks for that. I haven’t changed anything about the way I work with Hubspot or with my two Gmail accounts, and I certainly have never connected my personal account to Hubspot, so it’s a mystery, and it’s irritating. I now have almost 500 emails that I haven’t previously added to a static list to trawl through and try to identify which are business and which are personal so that I can bulk delete them. And I’m not even sure whether the next time I open Hubspot that it isn’t going to bring them all back in again. I’ll delete a few for now and look again at it tomorrow. Thanks.

… if we want to get the bottom of this, you’ll have to :zipper_mouth_face:
