Hi HubSpot,

How can i easily check if my contact’s company name is associated with the right company property? I want to compile a list of contacts with incorrect company association based on contact’s company name and update accordingly.

Out of the box, HubSpot is not equipped to compare things. Comparing would require custom code actions in workflows, available in Operations Hub Professional, and the help of a developer.

As far as workarounds go, here’s what you can do:

  • On the contact index page (Menu > Contacts > Contacts), place the columns for ‘Company name’ and name of the associated company side by side to compare.
  • Create a company-based workflow, that copies the company’s name into the contact ‘Company name’ field, ignoring whatever is in that field.
  • Export your contacts and run a comparison of the two columns in Microsoft Excel, using a formula to check whether two fields have the same content.

Thanks for your feedback. i tried exporting but i noticed that the associated record is shown as record id rather than the name. Do i need to look at company property name instead?

Can you retry by exporting a list of all contacts? (filtering for “Create date is known”)
