Comparing Marketing Email Performance Based on Time of Day Sent

Hi Folks,

I have some marketing emails that are sent at diffrent times of day and days of week.

What would be the easiest way to compare how time sent impacts performance?

Thanks!

Hi @nychd, this is a great question, happy to help!

I recommend using the Custom Report Builder - access this tool by creating a new report from your email/marketing dashboard.

Your Data Sources should be Contacts, Marketing Email and Marketing Email Analytics (not Activities).

Add Marketing email click-through rate (or other measures you want to report on) to the y-axis:

Then you can use the Break down by option to break out the data - try using Campaign name, Campaign audience, list membership, or Marketing email name (there are tons of options) depending on how you are going to identify the time sent.

There isn’t a value for time sent - so you’ll have to cross-reference the day/times you tested against another value (like the marketing email name) to determine what was most successful.

You might even build a dashboard with multiple reports to create comparison reports that show a bigger picture.

You can add external sources to link URLs from your email results or notes to document the date/times for each campaign/email send data for easy reference.

Hope this helps you get started!
