# Company Notes vs Contact Notes

Hello,

When adding a Note to a Contact, it also populates the Company Notes? How can I stop contact notes populating under company notes?

Hi @BWW,

When you log a note, you can always choose which other records to associate the note with, see the bottom right corner in my screenshot, where it says “1 association”.

Simply select or deselect the records. As far as I know, there isn’t any default setting for this, you need to check this for each note.

Thanks and it worked as a work around!

If you come across a Default let me know! It is cumbersume to remember everytime you add a Contact note!

Hi there,

Is it possible to have it always automatically associate with multiple records without having to toggle it each time a note is made?

It’s not possible to automatically associate notes with multiple records at this time. I would recommend upvoting this related [feature request](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/Option-to-Automatically-associate-a-NOTE-created-under-a-DEAL-or/idi-p/473710) in the Ideas Forum.

Hi Karsten, I appreciate your responses. I am in the same position as the first post in this stream, in that I want Contact Notes to be ONLY for the Contact (unless I choose to add another association). Your response to @BWW 's question began with “As far as I know…” --does that mean that you are doing some research to confirm, or is that the final answer?
