I’ve seen questions about Company name being blank after importing Contacts, but this was just company information. I made sure all of the columnns were there are correctly identified. All of the information imported except the names of the comapanies. Luckily it was a small batch. Can anyone help?
Hi @Kate8288
Thank you for reaching out!
I understand that when you imported contacts, the contact property Company Name was not imported despite the fact it was in your excel - correct?
In your imports page in HubSpot (the page you get when you click on Contacts > Contacts > Import) - Does it say there are errors or 0 error?
If it’s written 0, I am wondering if maybe those values were imported in another property
If there are errors there, could you download the error file? This article should then help to understand what happened and how to fix this.
Hope that helps.
Have a lovely day,
Tiphaine.
Good morning; thanks for your reply!
There were 0 errors reported, and it doesn’t look as though the name landed in any other property field. Luckily I was trying a small batch, so fixing it manually was not the end of the world, but there are hundreds more to import ![]()
Thanks again,
Kate
Hi @Kate8288
Thank you for your reply! This is definitely strange, if there was 0 error it should have imported one way or another.
Did you import only contacts or contacts and company? Maybe the values were imported in a company property.
In any case, could you try again with a small amount (like 5 contacts for example) - and if this is still happening, can you give me one or two contacts ID (the last number you see in the URL when you’re on a contact record) were it does not show?
Thank you!

I did another import and the same thing happened. Here are some of the IDs: 8162608463, 8162453678, 8161873244. I hope you can solve the mystery! ![]()
Hi @Kate8288
Thank you for your reply and the IDs!
I think I understand what’s happening. When you’re choosing the excel to import, then you should have a page where it’s mapping your excel columns to HubSpot properties. Here, what I think is happening from what I can see in the backend is that the Company Name column in your excel is automatically mapped to the HubSpot Property Company Domain Name - which is why it isn’t importing the data (as a company domain name should be for example hubspot.com and not just HubSpot).
Could you try again and double check the mapping on the mapping page to make sure the Company Name column is mapped to the Company Name property? It should then work.
Thank you!

Good morning! Here’s exactly what I did: I exported the company data I already had in HubSpot, deleted all the company information but kept the column headers, and entered all of the appropriate information for the companies I wanted to import. (I had previously tried to use the “example” spreadsheets as a template but those didn’t work.) I checked to make sure the data were under the correct column headers. Does that make any sense?
Hi @Kate8288
Thank you for your reply.
Ok, so you just imported companies and not contacts then? Yes this should work when doing that. To understand what may be happening here I’d need examples, which is why I am advising trying another import of onl 4 or 5 companies so you can see if this is happening again, and if yes, to give me some companies ID where the name does not show.
Thank you!

Sorry for the delay in responding; I was out of the office last week. I will double-check the mapping next time. Thank you!
Hi there,
I have the same problem. My excel has the Company Name field, still after import all my contacts have no Company info.
In terms of mapping this is what I have in the Company column, what am I missing?
I tried now 5 times, so I assume it’s not a temporary glitch.
Any help would be appreciated!
This is a tricky one — company name going blank is almost always a column header mismatch. HubSpot maps CSV columns based on exact header names, so if your column says “Company” instead of HubSpot’s expected “Name” property for companies, it silently skips or maps incorrectly.
A few things to check:
1. In the import mapping step, did HubSpot auto-suggest a mapping for that column, or show it as unmapped? If unmapped, the data doesn’t land anywhere.
2. Make sure you’re importing into the Company object, not Contact object. “Company Name” as a Contact property and “Name” as a Company property are different fields.
3. HubSpot can have encoding issues with Excel-generated CSVs — save as CSV UTF-8 before importing if you haven’t already.
This kind of column mapping issue is exactly what I built Emport (emport.io) to solve. It auto-maps your CSV headers to the correct HubSpot properties using AI, so you’re not manually guessing which column goes where. Worth a try if this keeps coming up.
