Company Import for Target Accounts

Hi All,

I have just been given a list of Account names that may or may not be in our Hubspot. I was wondering if anyone knows a quick way to to set these all to target accounts in Hubspot. I saw that to import and update existing accounts you need the Record ID, and this will takes ages if I try find all the different accounts and put in the Record ID. Is there a way I can just bulk import all the accounts and if they match the name they will update and if they can’t find the name it creates?

Hi @DCrinnion ,

Yes! There is an “Is Target Account” property on the Company record in HubSpot. Just add that column to your import with the value “Yes” in all of the cells you want to mark as target accounts.

Hi Trevor!

When I try to update the existing companies it says I need either a company domain or a record ID, however I don’t have either unfortunately. Is there anyway of getting around this?

Hi @DCrinnion ,

Unfortunately those are the two fields you can use as unique identifiers in HubSpot.

If you have a URL for the company website in your source file, you can extract the root domain from the url using this process.

Alternately, you can export the existing HubSpot records, and use a VLOOKUP in your spreadsheet on another field (such as a Company Name or Phone Number) to add the RecordID from your HubSpot Records to your import file. Then you can import the result. Accuracy for this may not be perfect, so be sure to look the records over carefully before you import.

Hi Trevor, Thank you! In the end I had to get my data enriched to get the domain names so I could add them with unique identifiers and import! Thank you very much!
