Does anybody have any tips on using both stock and owned video content together? A lot of the time, I find myself needing to supplement client video footage with stock video, but have a hard time making it look ‘real’. Does anybody have any tips on using stock videos?

Hey there! I usually struggle with this.
Most free/cheap websites have stock footage that feels to staged or “stock”. So if you have the budget, I’d recommend checking out sites like filmsupply or artgrid, which will provide higher quality shots.
Also, you can choose shots that are super different from what you’re shooting (ex: insert stock drone shots or animations if you’re mainly using regular camera shots). That way, the change will be less jarring for the viewer.
Another alternative is to accept that you’re using stock footage, and make it clear for the viewer. You can make it more “on brand”, or personalize it by adding a frame around it or overlays too.

When using stock video I would recommend either trying to match color/grading/style as much as possible, or the opposite. Here’s an example of a video we created with both and you can see that the shoot of the carwash and the robot are clearly stock videos, but since the are very different and they are USED to showcase a difference between the service and what the carwash is, the difference is not a problem.
Also, try to find quality stock video that is not the tipical low quality short stuff with bad actors. If you use more elaborate shots like drone shots or closeups or specific things like products, that could also help.
A lot of times color grading/correction can make a big difference, you can try to get both videos to a similar look playing arround with these techniques.
