Cloning a Deal

Some of our deals recur weekly or fortnightly so the deal cloning feature is essential for productivity.

We spent hours testing a workflow to create recurring deals. It was unstable. After the first two or three recurring deals, the deal got stuck and could not move to the next step of the workflow even though the conditions were met. For those recurring deals that the workflow created, the line items were not copied over so the workaround that @ybaptiste mentioned is quite limited.

It’s surprising that an idea receiving over a thousand upvotes remains unplanned. Please consider prioritizing this.

we have reoccuring opportunities - being able to clone them would save us a ton of time and also ensure consistency. this request is from 2017, has there been any movement to if this will be incorporated?

This is the easiest feature to add, and for 1,536 users who need this, why can’t you just smuggle it in? Imagine having to create -- from scratch -- a new deal that captures all the key subscription renewal information every single time? Please get this done. Hubspot’s amazing… why your team is neglecting this is a total mystery.

Regan hit the nail on the head. It’s a critical feature to make the platform more usable. Recreating deals is cumbersome and manual. If you are asking users, I would think this should be a higher priority than color coding dashboards

Taking a screenshot from another CRM I use, it should be this simple:

I really want to like HubSpot. It’s very simple to use and has an intuitive UI, but it’s very obvious this solution started out as a marketing-focused CRM platform. Cloning a deal is a very basic feature, especially in a SALES-focused CRM. Unfortunately, HubSpot is very much a MARKETING-focused CRM. The solution is so good in many ways, but really needs some basic improvement for SALES. I would suggest either hiring someone who has a sales leadership background or tapping into clients who have deep sales leadership backgrounds to help w/ product feedback. This would ultimately help HubSpot in larger organizations where the needs for more robust sales features is critical and CRM decisions are driven by sales leadership/ops and not marketing.

I agree! They need someone who understands the nuts and bolts of processing
sales, managing deals, etc.
I know this is a little off-topic…for example, I have a selected set of
deals …or even one… that I want to set up a sequence for. I can’t do
that with HBS because HBS only grabs the most recent deal and not
necessarily the one I want to set up a sequence for. So so frustrating!

Hi HubSpot team! I also would love the feature to clone an existing Sales Deal. My team often creates deals that have all the same property information except for a number of dates or small details, and it would be greatly appreciated to add this feature into HubSpot so we do not need to manually reenter many details into an entirely new deal. Thanks for considering this feauture request!!

How is this still not implemented? This is a basic feature, which saves a lot of time and effort!

This is a major time-suck for my team. They receive deals that have multiple sites that are all exactly the same. Deal cloning is a vital and core feature of a CRM. I hope the product team will prioritize this, as it doesn’t seem that wild of an ask. There is a clone feature on so many other vital items in Hubspot.

This should be an absolute priority because it is necessary for both Sales and Customer Success. We are now trying to use Hubspot as our main customer success management hub and being able to clone deals so we can easier manage information from Y1 to Y2 would be invaluable. The current copying process is not good enough because it takes too long to set up, especially because you have to choose every single thing you want transferred over. A cloning option would save a lot more time and resource in the long run. @ybaptiste any chance that there as been movement on this in the last few months?

Our controller was up until nearly 2:00am in the morning finishing the week’s long work of manually duplicating ALL of our major subscription renewal deals in our Hubspot instance for 2023. Why? (1) Because creating a deal manually one-year in advance is not something sales reps typically do given how much work it is, and they post once closed. (2) Because she needs the pipeline information for forecasting. This would be a non-issue with cloning. She’s a single mom and will be back at the grind this AM. Our team appreciates her effort, but it’s so frustrating b/c virtually every other CRM comes with Deal Cloning.
With all due respect to the Hubspot team, this feature is more important to every sales team in the subscription renewal space than “team goals,” “deal overlays,” and especially, “color coding the deals board.”

Sharing for Hubspot’s consideration.

Shocked that after so many years Hubspot still refuses to fix this. I say “fix” because to me, this is basic CRM functionality. It’s like if you created a new word processing system (like MS Word) that didn’t support cut and paste. Having used many sales CRM systems in my 20+ year long sales career, this is the first time I’ve ever seen a system that can’t clone a deal. And yes, I understand how, given the database structure, it’s not easy to implement. But I’m sorry, it’s utterly unacceptable to not have it.

We regularly create new Deals for the same customers. Currently that means filling in all the Deal info for each new Deal from scratch.

It would be great if we could simply create a copy of a previous Deal for a customer, and then change only the new or different details that apply to the new Deal.

It would save our sale people a load of time.

Hi HubSpot Community great news! Our product team is prioritizing this feature and actively working on a solution. To help us better understand what exactly you’d like to clone (e.g. properties, associations, activities), could you please take this short survey? Thank you!

*Update: Survey link has been fixed, please let me know if you’re still not able to access it.

Hi, the link for the survey gives an error message that ‘permission is needed’ to access.

Yes! That’s great news! But I also am unable to use the survey link at this time.

P.S. I really hope that this functionality is going to include the ablity to clone other objects as well, such as Tickets.

THANK YOU!!! The community has practically been begging!
Need permission for the survey. BTW

@kman

Can you please fix the link so that we can access the survey? Otherwise, the people who really need to fill it out won’t be able to access it.

Thanks!

I also can’t access the survey. This couldn’t be more timely. I literally
just reached out to another CRM system vendor specifically due the lack of
clone ability in Hubspot. Please prioritize this!!!
