Hi all,
I’m wondering if there is any way to clone a contact.
If I have to insert more contacts to one company, how can I easily insert the adress (Zip Code, City etc.) to each contact without typing them every time? Is there a way to clone a contact or to automatically insert (copy …) these information from the company?
I’m looking forward to your ideas or solutions.
Thanks in advanced.
Alexander
Hi Alexander,
unfortunately you can’t clone a contact, but I have an idea with a workflow. We always had the problem that a lot of data was in the company database but not in the contact database. So I created some workflows that copy properties from the company to the contact. This could be interesting for you here, too.
I hope you can read it in German (sorry). In this case I copied the name of the company - the trigger is: the name of the company inside the company database must be known and inside the contact database it is unknown. Then you just say: copy the company data to the contact data.
I hope it will be useful.
Regards,
Thanks. I will try this if it is possible with the free edition of Hubspot.
Hey @agoebels,
Workflows are only available in the Professional and Enterprise tiers of HubSpot. You’re best workaround would be to export your company and contact data.
In Excel or Google Sheets, I’d create one file with two tabs (one for contacts, one for companies) and use the VLOOKUP function to read company information and write it into the corresponding contact fields. When you re-upload the contact list, HubSpot will use the email as a unique identifier and update existing fields with new values.
Unfortunately this is not an automatic process and would have to be repeated regularly. While it still requires manual steps every single time, it’s less tedious than data entry and manipulation in HubSpot.
Hope this helps!
PS. Depending on your use case, you might not even need to copy address information. For example, if you want to build an active list of contacts with a certain postal code, you would create a list and filter by the company postal code property. The list would populate with all contacts that are associated with companies with desired postal codes.
Hi Mr. Köhler,
thanks for the explanation. It’s not nice but a way to go ahead. Many thanks.
Best regards
Alexander
I’m really surprised that this isn’t a standard capability. Oftentimes a contact’s address is the same as a company’s address so it would be great to automatically copy the company address into the contact’s. I will do the workflow in the meantime but I think this should be a standard option (Like most other CRMs).
Hi @agoebels ! You can easily clone contacts and preserve all associations with the help of CloneNer. You can also clone deals, companies, custom objects, tickets etc. Try it out for free…it’s really helpful.
