I presume Clone a Sequence copies everything in one sequence to another. Why would I do that? Is it used when I want to enroll new members, though that doesn’t really make sense. Please advise when you would

I would use the “clone a sequence” feature for a team of sales reps that are going to send the same sequence of emails to their prospects. This clone feature saves reps precious time from manually creating emails and ensures that they are following your sales enablement or sales management’s suggested steps on reaching out to contacts instead of creating their own sequence.

I’m with @TomM2 — cloning really any asset in HubSpot usually makes for a quicker building experience than starting from scratch. For example, one version of the sequence could have automated email sends while the cloned version could have tasks to send the email. You could accomplish the same general flow while giving the sender their choice on manual inputs.
If you wanted to isolate the performance of a sequence for a very specific use case or target audience, you could used a cloned version to separate the metrics/not skew your average in the existing sequence as well.

@SBailin why would you clone anything really? There’s lots of different use cases. For a sequence you might want to clone one and change some emails or some specific actions in it, instead of having to entirely recreate your existing sequence you can just clone your existing one and edit the cloned one.
For example, I might work several different regions and I might want slightly different emails.
I could have a 6 email sequence for “Cold outreach Ireland”. Instead of having to recreate this entirely I might just clone it and edit some of the emails for my “cold outreach UK” sequence.
@jolle @kvlschaefer @TomM2 @SBailin I have used the clone sequence feature to duplicate a Conference attended sequence and customize it for a new conference attended, but when I save the sequence and go back to the original sequence I cloned, all the steps have been updated with the new conference attended sequence I created. How do I clone and still keep the original sequence so that nothing changes and I could use this as template for future conference attended sequences?
Did you ever figure this out? I have the same question!
Almost 2 years later and this problem seems to still be revelant however I, unfortuantley, do not see any solutions provided. Clone sequence is not useful for me, it has created more errors and headaches. I’ll take the extra 20m and create a sequence from scratch, although it is not effecient in terms of time, I need processes to be accurate.

I select ‘Clone 3 templates and make me the owner’, I then rename the
cloned sequence title, and make a few updates to the email templates within
the newly cloned sequence. The issue is when I ‘save existing sequence’ it
not only updates the new cloned sequence it also updates the original
sequence I cloned from.
How do I prevent this and what would be the purpose of cloning if the
revisions are applied to the original sequence?
