We are a long time Hubspot clients and have a huge contact list here on Hubspot (71,000+) that I “inherited” from predecessors no longer with my company. 80% of them are people that have filled out a form to download one of our free posters via one of our Hubspot Landing pages (we are a pet behavior related publishing company) and may have purchased a DVD or book from us in the past.
We just started using Hubspot for our CRM and need to mass change the lead status of any “leads” that have opted out of emails in the past (about 16K) to something other than “lead”. I then need to change the lead status of the 51,000 poster clients to a status that indicates that they are harvested emails.
I need to do this so that any contacts with real potential from this point forward that we input manually or capture via our “University” are not lost in the mix.
I saw something exporting all the lists then re-importing them changed but wasn’t clear on the process.
Thoughts?
You have several options.
Option 1: Under Contacts, you can apply filters from the left to get the contacts you wish to edit. Then you can select all → Edit and then choose the field you wish to update and input the new value.
Option 2: For the 16k contacts, you can create a Work Flow with the Enrollment criteria: Lifecycle Stage: ‘Lead’ and Opted Out of All Email: ‘Yes’ and make sure to check ‘Enroll contacts who already meet these criteria’ under Enroll existing contacts. Then just choose the new Lifecycle Stage (remember you can’t go backward) or Lead Status you wish to assign to them.
For the 51k, assuming you have defined/custom options set for your Lead Status, you can just setup another Work Flow and carry out the same action.
Option 3: Export your contacts/lists to a .csv with just the fields you need to update (you must include the email address in your export) and manually edit the field details and re-upload.
