We use 4 web domains (four different companies) in our HubSpot account. Now we need to change the primary domain from domain 1 to domain 2. Both domains remain aktive within HubSpot. Is there any consequences we need to be aware of, or can we change the main domain without having problems with already published landingpages, blog articles, email subscription pages?
Does someone has experience in this field and can recommend how to proceed?
I had to do this once in an account that was using brands (business units). It was tedious to audit and correct the behavior of the assets that utilize a domain. This is easier now-a-days if you have an agent connected to the account.
If you’re operating under 1 brand, this should be much simpler to manage.
Hey @sarahmeyer,
Welcome back!! ![]()
The first thing to clarify is whether ‘primary domain’ means the hosting domain for specific content types, or a broader brand-domain replacement. If both domains are already connected, HubSpot lets you move primary content types from Content > Domains & URLs, but the impact depends on what domain 1 continues to host.
Here are a few resources you may find helpful while we wait for any additional input:
I’d like to tag in some folks from the community as well to see if they have anything they’d like to add here!
Hey @Lnorden2, @CarolinaDeMares, @evaldas – Do you have any suggestions for @sarahmeyer on this?
Thanks in advance!!

@stassey already covered good ground here.
Just to add one more thing for context - if your domain1 and domain2 are already connected to HubSpot as hosting domains and you have pages created on both, there shouldn’t be a big impact on existing pages.
Let’s say you have domain1 as primary domain and domain2 as additional hosting domain:
domain1.com/page-one
domain1.com/page-two
domain2.com/page-on-different-domain
domain2.com/another-page
In this case, changing the primary domain from domain1 to domain2 should not affect existing page URLs - but it might change the URLs for system pages (i.e. marketing preferences).
However, if domain1 is a Hosting domain, but domain2 is a Redirect domain, then your pages would be changed to domain2. In this case there would be redirects created, which may have some SEO impact.
Hope this helps!
