Cart Abandon (& Browse!) with Shopify connection

Shocked by how difficult I am finding this CRM to configure really standard practice automated flows that I’ve manaaged effortlessly in 5 or 6 other platforms. I know exactly what I want to do but it feels like the criteria is goobledygook and I don’t trust it.

1. I want a Cart Abandon flow for orders that are not completed within an hour (I assume this is state Abandoned). I used the existing template ‘Send abondoned cart emails’ but can’t see a way of only selecting specific products - I do not want it to run for certain product lines. And I can’t find clarity on the timeframe for the Abandoned state.

2. I want a Browse Abandon flow for product pages that contain a certain piece of url. I want to wait an hour after they’ve viewed at least two pages, and I only want this to go to people that have not made a purchase in the last 30 days and also aren’t in the above Cart Abandon flow.
Am I trying to do something unreasonable? Are these genuine limitation of Hubspots? Cause my list of ‘issues’ is getting long enough it might be easier to put a business case together to move away from what I’ve inherited.

For cart abandon: skip the default template. Build a custom workflow using the Checkout Abandoned trigger, then add if/then branches to exclude specific products (by SKU or name). Timing defaults to around 1 hour, but it’s not super flexible.

For browse abandon: create a list of contacts who viewed pages containing your URL piece at least twice in the last hour. Exclude anyone who purchased in 30 days or is in the cart abandon flow.

It’s possible, but clunky. If these flows are critical, it might be worth looking at tools like Klaviyo that handle this much better.

Thanks for the tips, I’ll have a work through and test if I can get to something more reasonable - its been holding the business back in unlocking real passive potential so seems silly not to get something running. I’ve just come from using Klaviyo and am definitely missing the out of the box functionality and flexibility that it offers. Honeslty can’t fatholm why anyone would reach for Hubspot in a B2C environment, but we’re dealt the cards we’re dealt!

@SWalker117 Hi
You can’t natively exclude specific product lines from the abandoned cart flow or control the exact timing of when a cart is marked abandoned the Shopify sync doesn’t offer that kind of product-level filtering or timestamp flexibility. Similarly, for the browse abandonment flow, HubSpot doesn’t support conditional logic based on someone viewing “two or more” product pages, or pageview sequences at least not without custom behavioral events or third-party tools.

That said, some parts of what you want can be done you can create workflows that send browse abandonment emails to known contacts who visited a certain URL, add delays (like one hour), check whether they’ve made a purchase in the last 30 days, and even exclude those already in another workflow (like your cart abandon sequence).
