Hi all,
We recently saw a significant spike in website traffic sessions that we could not attribute to any internal campaigns. Investigation revealed that an article on a major newspaper website mentioned our product by name, resulting in increased traffic to our website.
I would like to make some form of annotation, note, attribution within HubSpot to record this “event” so that retrospective analysis doesn’t end up with the unanswered question - “why did we see this spike in traffic 6 months ago”.
My suggestion would to be able to add a form of “note” to any of the datapoints on the traffic sessions report in addition to the current breakdown.
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Kevin
Hi @KHannahCX,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community!
This is a great suggestion for capturing events that cause a spike in web traffic
I would like to tag in our experts to see if they have any advice
Hi @danmoyle, @Mike_Eastwood, @jforte - Do you have any suggestions for @KHannahCX on how to track traffic events?
Thank you!
Best,
Kristen
That’s a great question and use case, @KHannahCX. I don’t know of any “note” we can, as users, add to our reports. The only thing that comes to mind for me is to look at anyone who first found us on that date and add a note to their records, or add them to a list that references the publication.
(Like you could create an active list of anyone who visited your site or “was created” on that day or even a couple days after, and name the list “Contacts from X Publication.”)
I think it’s a cool idea to ask to add annotations to reports like this, which you could propose in the ideas forum here. If you do, tag me and I’ll upvote!
