I’m looking to test a workflow involving the lifecycle stage property on contacts in our sandbox environment. In our prod env we’re using several custom lifecycle stages, however, these stages won’t sync into the sandbox env and I’m not able to add the values myself - I can’t edit the property at all. Is there any way to do this in a sandbox env?

I’m experiencing the same and it seems like this is a part of the sandbox functionality that the product team hasn’t gotten to yet. Sandboxes are still being improved and new features are added regularly. Custom lifecycle stages have simply not been among those yet.
Part of the reason here might be that the product team has paused the rollout of custom lifecycle stage update ‘to sort out a few issues’. There hasn’t been an update since May 2 in that thread.
You’ll probably have to wait, unfortunately.
