Hi we’re trying to submit an app to marketplace listing.
1.Just want to check if it’s ok to submit app for listing from Sandbox?
2.If we have more than one HubSpot account, can we associate it with a different account later?
Thank you!
Hey @HJasmine8 and welcome back, a pleasure to see you again!
Great questions, thanks for asking the HubSpot Community!
For marketplace listing submissions, you’ll need to use either a Developer Account (which is free and standalone) or a paid HubSpot account. Sandbox accounts aren’t eligible. The Ecosystem Quality team often recommends a CMS Pro account since it offers more flexibility and fewer restrictions.
And yes, app listings can be transferred to another HubSpot account later on!
Just a quick note: to submit your app for listing, you’ll need at least 3 unique active customer installs.

I’d love to hear from our Top Experts: Hi @Anton, @MichaelMa and @zach_threadint do you have any insights or best practice to share with @HJasmine8, please?
Thanks so much and enjoy the day!

@Berangere we just got our app verified, can I can confirm everything you said!
@HJasmine8 we were already Hubspot users, so no sandbox ‘issue’ for us.
But most importantly: 3 unique active customers (“active installs”) are the number of unique HubSpot production accounts, unaffiliated with your organization, showing successful API activity within the past 30 days.
Paid accounts.Your own account doesn’t count.
As for the general process, it took us 2 weeks (+/-) to get from submission to review.
We needed to clarify a couple of things, but at this point we already had a Technical Program Manager assigned to us, so 3 days later our app was verified.
Moderator note: While this solution may not address the original poster’s specific situation, it could be helpful for other community members facing similar challenges.
@AdrianKnoll Thanks a lot for very useful information!
@Berangere Appreciate your help!
Hi @HJasmine8, Answering based on general HubSpot app marketplace practices:
1. Submitting from Sandbox — This isn’t standard practice. Marketplace apps are meant to be built and listed from a proper App Developer Account, not a Standard/CRM Sandbox sandboxes are designed for testing CRM features/data, not for developer app builds or listings. Submitting from a sandbox may cause issues later since sandboxes are meant to safely test changes without affecting your live account, not serve as a permanent home for a marketplace listed app. I’d recommend rebuilding/registering the app in a dedicated developer account before submitting for listing, to avoid complications.
2. Transferring to a different account later — Apps and their listings are tied to the developer account they were created in assets purchased or built in one account are typically only usable there, and moving them means either repurchasing or working directly with the provider/HubSpot support for a transfer. There isn’t a simple self serve “reassign this app to another account” option today.
Given the specifics matter here (app ownership, API scopes, listing status), I’d strongly suggest confirming both points directly with HubSpot Developer Support before submitting, since a wrong setup at this stage can be hard to unwind afterward.
This is an important question for app developers. A straightforward way to transfer Marketplace apps between HubSpot accounts would make collaboration and ownership management much easier.
