Noob question: Is it possible for a contact to be removed from a workflow if they respond to the email they’ve been sent? So far I haven’t seen anything that allows for that. My sales team is wondering why I can’t get the workflows to work similarly to their Sequences. Any ideas?

Short A: Not really, and trying can be a real pain in the assets -- i.e., marketing assets … aka: workflows!
Longer A:

HubSpot Marketing workflows (one-to-many) and HubSpot Sales sequences (one-to-one) are two completely different tools designed for two completely different types of engagements. And while we can certainly FORCE workflows to sorta behave like sequences by if/then branching our way into a Workflow Butterfly Effect, it’s not recommended. [rant done]
That being said, there are a couple of ways to FORCE contacts out of a workflow. (none of which solve your use case)
- Use if/then branches that deadend -- e.g., if contact opened or clicked email then do nothing!
- Workflow Goals -- see What is a workflow goal and why should I use one?
Always happy to help you build on HubSpot.

I realize this is SUPER late, but I found a way. It’s just not scalable. But for smaller implementations, here you go:
- Create workflow with emails
- Create list with criteria = reply to [specific marketing email]
- Suppress list in workflow settings or make membership to it a goal
You have to do it for every email in the workflow AND if you swap any of them out, you’d have to add them to the list as well. But it should work.
Good luck from the future.
