I would like to set up a top of mind email nurture workflow in HubSpot. However, I only want the workflow to be triggered if a lead ends up having a specific lead status listed in Salesforce. This means that the lead will need to get passed onto sales after submitting a form and then the lead status must get updated by the sales rep in Salesforce in order for this workflow to be activated (in this specific example the lead status must change from ‘new’ to ‘attempting to contact’)
In short, can a workflow be triggered based on the contents of a mandatory field listed in Salesforce? Is this something that can be controlled via HubSpot?
Hi, @Chloe-Celand. You can absolutely accomplish this. If we’re talking about the standard Lead Status field in Salesforce, it’s already mapped, and you can use that as a criteria that kicks off your HubSpot workflow. If it’s a custom status field, make sure it’s mapped, then you can build it out the same way. Any mapped field will be able to work this way.
If you’re really asking if there’s a way to ensure that the value is set from Salesforce and only Salesforce, that won’t be possible. Any mapped field from Salesforce can be edited manually in HubSpot (for users who can update contacts). So while you can trigger your HubSpot automation from any Salesforce-side update, there won’t be a way to natively say “ignore this workflow if the edit occurs from the HubSpot side, only from the Salesforce side”.
This is really helpful - exactly what I was hoping to hear! Thanks for such a quick response.
I just had a play around in the workflows and can now see that I can select the trigger to be contact property and then lead status - perfect
