Will calculated properties automatically re-run if one of the calculation properties values changes?
For example, if a calculation property is set to run the average revenue per employee of a company based on Company Revenue property and Company Employee Count property.
Will the calculation re-run whenever the Company Revenue property or the Company Employee Count property are updated for a Company?
Hi @TomAilor,
Yes, calculated properties will re-calculate when a property value used in the equation is changed.
One way to check this is by clicking View property history in the left sidebar of a contact and searching for your calculated property. Any changes should show up with this note:

Best regards!
Hi Karsten, is there a way to force the calculated property to run when it’s first created?
Hey, @AMalek8
That’s a great question. The short answer is – not possible directly. You’d need to take some action to “trigger” it. I haven’t set up a test, but my brain goes to:
- use a workflow to copy an existing property value back onto itself,
- use an import trigger the calculation for all your records at once by exporting them and then re-importing the file to create a bulk property update
Either approach needs some testing.
And lastly, this is the perfect question to create a new thread for. You’re likely to get more eyes on it and increase the potential for our current experts to have a workaround idea for you. If you do, feel free to tag me and we’ll get the arty started
