Bulk remove association

YES PLEASE! We have some lazy people who don’t bother to check the correct records and can have email strings that go on forever. Getting this cleaned up is a real pain!

I agree that cleaning records is a real pain! It’s not always about laziness, I am one of those people and sometimes I just forget. But no matter the reason, it’s annoying having to remove it one by one. So, please, make it happen!

Hello! This is in development, and as soon as any other details are available around when this will be in beta or live, I’ll be sure to update you all here. Thanks again for your continued patience. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @hhiggins ,

Do you think this feature would go into beta during September?

I’m asking due to a big project we have and this beta could reduce our workload a lot.

This sounds amazing! Please add me to the beta when it goes live!

Hi HubSpot community,
This is Naz from HubSpot prodcut team coming to you with an exciting update! We have just launched bulk association editor in beta. You can now inspect and remove outdated or incorrect CRM record associations in bulk from the index page to keep your CRM data accurate and reliable.
We are just getting started with this new experience. Be sure to share your feedback on how we should expand this experience so that you can more streamline managing your record associations!

Hi everyone,

We have recieved your feedback that for large batch operations, a workflow action is needed. We’d love to hear more about your use-cases to ensure we are giving you the right controls to find the right records to disassociate.
If you are open to chatting more about your use-case, please book a time with me here or leave a comment here.

Looking forward to your feedback!

Hey Naz, I hope you’re having a great day.
I wanted to follow up regarding some use cases for the need to bulk remove
associations.
Sometimes we use the wrong association label in a mass import and without
the ability to remove it in bulk, it requires a lot of bandwidth to
complete manually. The same applies to default association labels that
aren’t necessarily needed.
Also, we’d like to create workflows to apply certain association labels by
default like “Top Partner” or “Main POC” (yes, the OG “Main POC” - I’d like
to auto remove the association if that contact bounces or unsubscribes, and
would like to apply that label automatically to the contact who’s most
responsive at a company or who has the most (and a recent) joined deal).
These are our primary use cases for this request; I hope this helps. Please
feel free to follow up with any questions.
Thank you for your help,

Just chiming in with a use case where this would be helpful to have as a workflow action: our client is a nonprofit organization that uses Contact Roles in Salesforce to give what they call “Soft Credit” on donations (Opportunities). In HubSpot, they only need the actual Donor contact to be associated, and we don’t need the Soft Credit contact associations. There are board members for the nonprofit that have soft credit on well over 10,000 donations (10,000 is the limit in HS of how many deals can be associated to one Contact). There’s no way for us to remove the unneeded contact-deal associations in bulk. Hitting the associations limit is causing SF integration sync errors, preventing the data from syncing, and just creating a big mess.

Looking forward to having this feature hopefully soon!

Use Case - in some data hygeiene maintenance, I found that an old API updated multiple company domains to be free domains. So now I have hundreds of gmail contacts associated with Company A, hotmail contacts associated to Company B, etc. The only solution I’ve found thus far is to delete the company record to disassociate the contacts, and then start over. Now I’m trying to clean up a company that has some legit contacts and history associated with it that I don’t want to lose by deleting it. Just requested the beta, but I’m not for sure I want to work in sets of 10 to correct over 200 contacts…

Use Case: We only wish to have the Primary company associated to tickets when creating tickets from a Deal based workflow. However when associating the same contacts from the deal to the ticket it pulls in all of the associated contacts Primary associated companies which we don’t care about at all.

Workaround: We currently remove all companies associated to tickets that are not lablled as “Primary” using a custom code step on a workflow.

We’re trying to crack the same issue for deals but haven’t code the code right yet.

Hubspot fixing the source of the issue would be ideal which i have raised in a separate community post.

2nd use case (less common for us): Bulk removing contacts from companies like the initial post mentions.
