Building a Customer Portal (Service Pro) with Dynamic Pages (Content Pro)

Hey! I have an idea and would love to validate it!

A customer of ours needs to build a customer portal. The main needs are:

- Ticketing

- Invoices

- Documents

- Media

We are planning on using HubSpot Service Pro + Dynamic Pages built with Content Pro, which are accessible via login.

Is this a good idea? If not, why?

Thanks!!

Hey @Rui_Martins thank you for posting in our Community!

HubSpot Service Pro is a great choice for ticketing and support features.

For the customer portal, HubSpot can cover a lot of needs. How do you plan on managing user access and security?

To our top experts, @danmoyle and @Jnix284 do you have any recommendations for @Rui_Martins?

Thank you,

Pam

Hey all. This is done already! Using both Content Hub Pro & Service Hub Enterprise.

Will share it publicly as soon as I have the ok for go-live.

Hi there! So you were able to build a customer portal (the one included with Service Hub) and it show tickets, invoices, subscriptions, and payment methods?

Hi @Rui_Martins! This is a great question and use case. After some research, here’s what I’ve found and what I’d think about.

Using HubSpot’s Service Hub Pro and Dynamic Pages with Content Hub Pro seems like a viable approach and an exciting combo. Like many ideas, I see some advantages and potential challenges.

Pros

Integration with your CRM data.

Customization: Dynamic Pages with Content Pro offer flexibility to create personalized experiences for customers.

Ticketingvia HubSpot’s robust ticketing system.

HubSpot’s top notch security focusing on customer data protection.

And of course automation with workflows and all of those benefits.

Cons

Complexity: Building a custom portal using Dynamic Pages might require significant development effort and expertise.

Maintenance: Custom solutions, even within the HubSpot ecosystem and one portal, can require ongoing maintenance and updates, which can be time-consuming and costly.

Scalability: As your needs grow, you may encounter limitations with this custom approach. Although, that may be minimal as HubSpot continues to evolve.

What I’d look out for:

User experience

Ensure the portal is intuitive and easy to navigate for customers.

Mobile responsiveness

Make sure the portal works well on various devices and screen sizes. This will take some testing and may require additional dev work.

Performance

Monitor page load times and overall system performance, especially as you add more features and users as your customer grows.

Data management

Don’t forget to implement proper data handling and storage practices, especially for documents and media files.

Integration capabilities

Consider how well your custom portal will integrate with other tools or systems you may need in the future.

So the short answer is yeah, I’d definitely explore this option. If it were me, I’d also just make sure I’m keeping up with the potential concerns in the planning process and keeping open to other solutions, even if it means pairing HubSpot with other integrations.

Hopefully you get to share the case study later!

Thanks for the tag @PamCotton, not much to add to what @danmoyle suggests, there are a lot of great insights there!

I think using dynamic pages in combination with the Membership functionality would allow for a login experience that leverages ticket information to create the type of space you’re looking for that would go beyond what is included in the Service Hub “customer portal” tool. It will require a lot of custom development, but certainly can be done.
