Description:
We are a multi-brand portal using Brands
Current behavior:
- When a contact is created from a Facebook Lead Ad (or other external / non-HubSpot form), HubSpot auto-creates a hidden form and associates it with our default Brand.
- As a result, the Brand / Business Units property on the contact is automatically set to the default Brand, even when:
- The Facebook ad account itself is associated with a different Brand in HubSpot.
- The lead logically belongs to another brand in our group.
- This leads to many contacts having an incorrect brand value , which breaks routing, reporting, and ownership in a multi-brand setup.
Why this is a problem:
- For multi-brand companies, Brand / Business Units is a key routing dimension.
- External/Facebook leads are often split by ad account and campaign per brand.
- Having all of these default to a single Brand forces us to implement fragile workarounds (extra custom “Primary brand” properties and workflows) and creates confusion for users who see the wrong brand on contacts.
Requested behavior / improvement:
1. For external and Facebook Lead Ads forms, allow one of the following:
- Option A: No Brand automatically assigned at all (let us control it via workflows), or
- Option B: Automatically use the Brand associated to the connected ad account (or campaign) instead of always using the account’s default Brand.
2. Ideally, expose a clear setting for “How should this source assign Brand / Business Units to contacts?” so admins can choose:
- No automatic brand,
- Default Brand, or
- Brand linked to the ad account / campaign.
This would make Brands / Business Units much more accurate and usable for multi-brand companies using Facebook Lead Ads and other external forms, and would reduce the need for custom routing properties and cleanup.
This one bites a lot of multi brand portals. Until HubSpot lets you set the brand per lead ad form, a workflow is the most reliable fix. Map a hidden property on each lead ad form, or use Original Source Drill Down 2, which usually holds the ad account or campaign name. Then build a contact workflow triggered on create where Original Source is Paid Social, branch on that value, and set Brand to the right one. Make sure it runs before any routing or owner assignment workflows, or add a short delay to those, so routing reads the corrected brand. A weekly active list of contacts where Brand is the default but the campaign name points to another brand will catch anything the workflow misses. Also worth posting this as an Idea, since a brand setting on the ad account sync would remove the need for all of it.
Agree on the solution. Just noting, that this is also happening on all other non-HubSpot forms, so difficult to contain unless you do a generic workflow test on origin for all lead ads and non-HubSpot forms.
