Blog Tag URLs Redirecting Incorrectly — "topic" Instead of "tag"

Hi all,

For some reason, all of our blog tag links are pointing to incorrect URLs. Instead of linking to URLs with /tag/, they’re pointing to /topic/—which doesn’t work as expected.

Example:

According to HubSpot documentation, tag pages should automatically route to /tag/[tag-name], but that’s not happening.

What I’ve Tried:

  • Reviewed HubSpot documentation
  • Used the support bot
  • Searched online forums
  • Double-checked blog and tag settings
  • Reviewed theme configuration

We’re using the Spark theme by Lynton: Theme Link

Still no luck identifying the issue. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Derek

@DKDerek Sounds like you’ve done some great initial troubleshooting! Have you tried to recreate the issue on the HubSpot Default Theme? This will indicate/point to if it is a Lynton/Spark theme issue. Lynton should be your primary resource for this issue. Contact their support team directly and see if they can troubleshoot.

Let me know if you need any more help if the above doesn’t work out!

Hi @HKoch, thanks for the response!

I connected with the Lynton team, and they quickly identified the issue and applied an update to the theme. After updating it in my instance, the problem was resolved. It turns out the issue stemmed from a change in how HubSpot handles tags—previously, both /topic/ and /tag/ URLs worked during a transition period, but now it appears that only /tag/ is supported.

Thanks again!
