Hi all,
Question for the Hubspot world: Is there a way to block filed updates if the field has a value. So the idea is to allow things like the Breeze enrichment to happen on fields where the field value is empty, but if there is an existing value, to block the field update.
Thanks!
Hey @TLarson5 - thanks for posting in the Community!
I understand that you’re looking to clarify whether or not it’s possible to limit Breeze enrichments when properties already hold values. I’d like to point out that as noted here in our knowledge base article on Breeze enrichment, existing data is preserved unless you choose to overwrite it during manual enrichment. Does this answer your question? If not, would you mind expanding a bit to ensure the Community can better assist?

Hi @TLarson5,
If you’re concerned about Breeze enrichment specifically, then this is already considered: Get started with data enrichment
Will my data be overwritten?
No, existing data is preserved unless you choose to overwrite it during manual enrichment.
Best regards!

Thanks for the links. I’ve learned you can do a one-time vs the continual enrichment, but I’m curious do either of you two know if you can block it at a field level? A scenario I’m thinking is “maintaining the continual enrichment option” but have it ignore “Industry” if “Industry” is already populated. That’s kinda the “best of both worlds” scenario.
I know that with Marketo you can block field updates from specific actions. So for example, from CSV imports or wokflows - and this is done at the field level. So before I put this to bed and mark it as an “accecpted” solution, I was curious if either of you guys knew anything about doing this at a field level.
@TLarson5 if you choose the continuous enrichment, then existing values won’t be overwritten, see my previous reply.
But no, you can’t protect fields from being overwritten generally, e.g. by manual enrichment. I’m not aware of any central setting in HubSpot which would achieve this. This is something you could request in the ideas section of the community but it’s not possible as of now.
