Best way to track Contact Learning/Training Activity

One of the services our company offers is Training. We have a team of trainers that Train contacts that are members of our Companies.

We would like to figure out the best way to track this training. Example: One of our trainers hosts a training for 20 contacts. At the completion of the training we want to capture the logistics of the training (when it was held, the topic, etc), and make sure the contacts are tagged as having attended the training for reporting. Added value- We want to be able to… maybe through a custom field unless this exists in the system - track completed trainings so that we could report on them later.

We have a mix of CRM, Sales, and Service licenses. Right now our lead trainer is trying to accomplish this through Tickets. I’m not sure if this is the best way to do it. Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks

Hi @TMwd,

Have you considered using marketing events for this? Use marketing events

They meet your main requirements:

  • They support custom properties (which can be created in the property settings)
  • You can import registrations, attendances, cancelations via import files
  • Thanks to a new beta, you can also register contacts for marketing events via workflow (under Settings → Product updates)

Alternatively, you could look look into any other existing object or consider creating a custom object with similar behavior:

Create and edit custom objects (Enterprise only)

Essentially, what you’re looking for (and what all three approaches – marketing events, existing objects, custom objects – offer) is the ability to create custom properties and associate a record of this object with contacts.

Have a look at the documentation and let me know if you have any follow-up questions.

Best regards
