Best way to link automated follow-up email after form submission on website

Hi all,

I am using a squarespace website and I already have a form in place on the footer of that site (www.alisoncopywriting.com).

I’d like to send an automated welcome email to individuals that sign up to my newsletter. I was wondering whether there is a way to do this without creating a new form on HubSpot? So is there a function that allows me to create an automated email based on my Squarespace form?

Appreciate all help in advance.

Thanks

Alison

@AYuen,

Here’s what HubSpot has to say about it in their documentation.

How do I create an email autoresponder for non-HubSpot form submissions?
It is not currently possible to create a follow-up email for non-HubSpot form submissions directly in HubSpot.

If you have a MailChimp account, you can create an autoresponder in MailChimp to send an email to any new contact added to a MailChimp list through a non-HubSpot form. Learn more about connecting your non-HubSpot forms to MailChimp.

With that said, I would reach out to HubSpot support just to make sure this has not changed or to maybe even find out if it is on the roadmap.

@AYuen,

Actually, I got curious and you might want to check in your portal. It looks like you may be able to create a list now based on a non-HubSpot form.

If that is the case, then the list based off of the form could be a workflow trigger for the follow up email!

Hi George,

Thanks for your reply. I can’t seem to create a list on Hubspot based on a non-hubspot form. Perhaps it’s because I am in the free version?

Regards

Alison

Hi @AYuen,

Does the form appear in the HubSpot forms dashboard, have you double-checked that the setting for collecting data from non-HubSpot forms is enabled? This should work on the free version of HubSpot as well, and – if the form fulfills all of the requirements and if the tracking code is installed – you should see the form in your dashboard (Menu > Marketing > Lead capture > Forms). If it appears there, it should be available for list filters as well.

Regarding your original question: These type of automation features are locked behind HubSpot’s Professional subscriptions since they require HubSpot workflows. A much cheaper alternative to a Professional subscription could be app integrations:

Outfunnel which a lot of users have recommended for cheap automation and Mailchimp which allows you to create an autoresponder, explained at the end of this page.

If neither Professional nor Outfunnel are an option, you’d have to collect these contacts in a list and send welcome emails in batches on a regular basis manually, since this type of email currently can’t be created in HubSpot.

Hope this helps!

Make sure when you look in forms, look for collected forms. Collected forms = non-hubspot forms.
