Hi,
I’m trying to find what is the best way to track activity (views) for a file.
I have several PDF files that we want to share with contacts via email and we want to be abe to see how many contacts actually clicked/viewed them.
Option 1 is to upload them as ‘Documents’ and to create a link. I can put my email address and toggle off the ‘require an email address to see the document’. This way I believe it will show the number of views but not who viewed it.
Option 2 is to upload the PDF as a ‘File’ and then create a tracking link from the URL, this way we can track the number of clicks which can be considered as ‘views’ maybe?
Anyone has suggestions on what is the best way to get this tracked?
Thanks in advance!
You’re on the right track – depending on the Hub you’re using for your first five documents, you can follow the instructions here:
I recommend sharing it as a document rather than a file, as the use case for Documents is 1:1 with what you’re trying to achieve and it’s a better more descriptive way to track.
If your team has Sales navigator for LinkedIn I’d also check out Smart Links:
Thank you for the reassurance and the LinkedIn tip!
I’ve done this and still just get “someone” viewed the document. Also in testing with our accounts, majority through a phishing warning and block the doc links. So we can’t really see who is opening the document and it is causing issues due to spam/security blockers for testing accounts/browsers.
All we are trying to do is identify when someone clicks the link for the document in an email. Can be associated to the email, as there will be multiple names on the email. it does not have to be 1:1 tracking, which appears broken.
