Best resources or YouTube vids that walk you through HubSpot projects to learn?

Hey everyone, If this is the wrong place to post this please let me know and I will post elsewhere.

I’m a marketing professional with over 10 years of experience but I’m trying to shift more to the tech and Revops side and I want to be extremely comfortable inside HubSpot. I’ve used it briefly in past roles but I want to become an expert. The certifications are great and I’ve done a bunch but it’s more reading and watching videos of people talking than actual hands-on work.
I’m an expert at learning any type of software thrown at me if I’m using it consistently, and just want some practice projects to do that can be done in the Dev Sandbox so I have some direction. Is there anything out there like this? Projects to recreate or youtube videos out there or any resources? I just want to spend an hour or two per day on the platform learning as much as I can and also so I don’t get rusty while looking for a new job. Hands-on work and not just listening to someone talk for 40 mins and then spending 5 minutes on a lesson creating a simple email sequence.

Also quick question. I have multiple dev accounts I’ve opened to use for the certifications and to learn the software. I’ve always used the option on the left here for “create app developer account” which has most of the software unlocked but is there any reason I should be using the right option “Create CMS developer sandbox account”? Is there a difference? I was always confused about which exact account I should be using to get the most features available for certifications, testing, and learning without having to pay for the software.

Again if this is the wrong place to post please let me know. I only posted here because I want to be using Hubspot in a future revops role.

Thanks!

@stevenmorano this place is as good as any to ask this question, happy to help!

1 - the community is a great place to get hands-on experience. Find a question that hasn’t been answered and build out a solution in your demo account to find the answer.

2 - app dev acct is the best option, you’d only need CMS dev if you’re developing a theme as you wouldn’t want to create the test accounts and have them expire after 90 days. It doesn’t have the same features unlocked, only those for theme development, but it doesn’t expire.

Thanks so much, I appreciate it! Yeah, I picked the App Dev account so I’m glad it was the correct one.

Also love the idea of solving other people’s problems to learn. Thanks!

Hi @stevenmorano,

Adding to @Jnix284’s reply, here’s how I would approach getting real-life experience / projects:

  • Follow community threads and re-build what you can find: workflows, calculation properties, views, reports, etc. This will help you learn about features you might not yet know and will also, through sheer repetition, sharpen your skills.
  • Follow Kyle Jepson on LinkedIn and start checking out the people in his comment section. There are a lot of people on LinkedIn who share and discuss HubSpot configurations. @Jnix284 there was a post a few months back listing a lot of people from the HubSpot people but I cannot find it – do you happen to still have the link?
  • Attend HubSpot Admins HUGs: HubSpot Admins HUG | HubSpot Academy & Community Programs

Hope this helps!

@karstenkoehler I couldn’t find the post with the full list of HubSpot people, but this was one recently that had quite a few and is a good place to start @stevenmorano

Thanks!

Thank you! I will look into this and start building what I can. I appreciate the LinkedIn advice to follow. Joined the HUG as well so I’ll have to check that out.
