Best Practice for populating Contacts and Companies "name"?

Our sales team have just started using HubSpot. They have been creating new contacts, which then automatically create the new company. The company domain is filled automatically using the email domain. All good so far.

However, the Company Name (“name” within Company) is not filled in. We have insights turned off, as we need to ensure 100% that the data is correct.

What is the best practice for getting that name field filled in?

When creating the contact - the company name field within the contact is not the same as the company name within Company. Additionally, when creating the contact - you cannot include the real “company name” field.

How should we manage that? We need the company name complete, as it’s synced via API to another system.

Hi @ed-K ,

HubSpot Contact records have a Company Name Field on them by default. You can include that in your form and then use a workflow to copy the Company Name to the associated company record.

Additionally, I have not seen many instances where HubSpot Insights gets the Company Name wrong, so unless there is other data that you are collecting that you prefer vs HubSpot insights, it might be worth trying that.

Hi, yes - I am now using the workflow as a workaround. (The errors in data were seen more in the street address and postcode fields etc - but you cannot chose where to enable the insights  )
