Best practice for managing Linkedin connection statuses

When dealing with someone who isn’t replying to emails or calls and you want to reach them via LinkedIn (not through Inmails), and you haven’t yet had a successful connection- so it’s still pending - what’s the best practice? Are you using HubSpot to keep track of this? Or a third-party tool?

How long do you leave a connection request out there before you suspend it and try again with a different message? Do you have any automation set up for that? Any tips would be much appreciated.

Hi @benflux,

There are a lot of ways to potentially handle this; HubSpot is generally well-equipped to handle this. You could:

  • Create a contact property to track the connection request status (pending / accepted / follow-up scheduled): Create and edit properties
  • Create a contact date property to keep track of the connection request date
  • Use tasks to set up a follow-up: Create tasks

Tasks could of course also be created automatically be a workflow based on the date property – and tasks could also be a result of a sequence step, if you’re working with sequences. So overall, that would tie in nicely.

There are also LinkedIn automation tools which promise to help with this but generally, I would be very careful as many which I have encountered violate the LinkedIn terms and services and are putting your LinkedIn account at unnecessary risk.

Best regards!
